Canada has many policies aimed at cutting transportation GHG emissions by boosting renewable and low-carbon fuel use. Yet no single government source provides a detailed, comprehensive picture of these policies and their impacts. To fill this gap, Advanced Biofuels Canada has engaged Navius Research to produce the annual Biofuels in Canada report, now in its 10th year.
This report evaluates and communicates the impact of renewable and low-carbon fuel policies in Canada by:
- Quantifying the volumes of renewable transportation fuels consumed in each Canadian province.
- Reporting on fuel type, feedstock, and carbon intensity (CI) of these fuels: ethanol, bio-diesel and renewable diesel. Co-processed fuels – produced from renewable feedstocks co-refined in a conventional refinery – are also included.
- Presenting the sales and stock of light-duty electric vehicles.
- Quantifying the GHG emissions impact of these low-carbon energy types.
- Estimating impact of renewable fuel consumption on energy costs, including the role of fuel taxation.
- Communicating trends in Canadian renewable fuel trade
